A superb 7 day trek in a world class trekking region.
Together with the Cordillera Huayhuash, the Cordillera Blanca mountain range is widely reputed to be the best mountain trekking region in the world outside of the Himalaya and is well supported by the town of Huaraz.
This Santa Cruz Lake 69 trek is a superb 7 day trek in the Cordillera Blanca, crossing 2 high Passes, each of 4750m.
Fitting neatly into 2 weeks, this trip flies London – Lima, an overnight hotel before driving up to Huaraz (3050m) to acclimatise for 2 nights. The trek begins at Cashapampa and treks in a clockwise direction crossing the Punta Union Pass (4750m) on day 2 and the equally high and impressive Portachuelo Pass a few days later.
Few people trek here. Overshadowed by the more famous Inca Trail, this region is easily the better trekking region with lush valleys, tiny rural villages, clear flowing rivers, numerous lakes and vast open mountain scenery. The jewel in the crown is the remote and pristine turquoise blue Lake 69 tucked away in amongst the towering peaks that surround it.
The average altitude of the campsites on this trek is about 3900m so it deserves a little respect! Looking after you throughout your trek are the attentive and cheerful staff as well as your knowledgeable Guide.
There is a final night in the delightful adventure town of Huaraz before driving back to Lima (overnight hotel) and your return flight to the UK.
