Spectacular trek in the High Atlas, culminating in summiting Mt Toubkal.
This trip is 8 days UK – UK. The trek itself is 6 days.
This trek is a circuit through the Berber villages of the area, culminating in ascending to the summit of Mt Toubkal towards the end. Mt Toubkal is the highest point in North Africa and affords superb views from its summit, as far down as the Sahara and out to the Atlantic if the weather is clear enough.
This trip is ideal for inexperienced adventure trekkers whilst providing a challenging environment in true mountain terrain.
Having arrived in Marrakesh, you may have the opportunity to explore some of the city before departing early the next day to drive to Imlil, your trekking start point. Trekking crew assembled, it’s off into the mountains. For 4 lovely days, you will experience the beauty of the Moroccan High Atlas before reaching the French Alpine Refuge at Neltner.
Early next morning, you will set off for the summit to make use of the more stable weather in the mornings. 4hrs should see you reach the summit before descending and a well earned rest.
The final 2 days will take you back to Marrakesh, amidst hot showers! A final chance to explore this wonderful small ancient city, which can be achieved in a relatively short space of time. Don’t forget the Medina and perhaps a Hammam.
Fertile valleys, high 3000m Passes and traditional Berber villages

Morocco Three Peaks, Aug 2016, beginning to end the entire trip was a complete pleasure. Travel and Trek fell over themselves to be helpful during the booking process and the pre trip information was comprehensive and useful. A 'must see' the scenery is stunning...I am a head chef and never again will I accept excuses from my team about lack of equipment and conditions; what they produce in field conditions is nothing short of miraculous. Thinking of doing this trip? Stop thinking now and book.

Where do I start with the 'Sahara trek'...... It was fantastic!! The guides were outstanding, the rest of the crew fantastic as for the chefs..... how anyone can make food in the desert to that quality I will never know! Travel and Trek have been great, very well organised and the info provided was spot on! An experience of a lifetime; you wont be disappointed!
Where do I start with the 'Sahara trek'...... It was fantastic!! Loved every minute of it! From getting collected from the airport to being dropped off not 1 thing went wrong! (Well apart from the Marrekech taxi drivers, I did fear for my life, but that's a thrill in itself). The guides were outstanding, friendly, full of info and a pleasure to have met, the rest of the crew were also fantastic and as for the chefs..... How anyone can make food in the desert to that quality I will never know! The food in the desert was better than most restaurants I've been too and I like my restaurants and food! The hotels were excellent before and after and as for Morocco itself the people are very welcoming, friendly and somewhere I'm likely to visit again with my family! The group we had were spot on, everyone helped each other even through the hot days when it was clear others were struggling! Id like to think I've met some friends for life out there! Travel and Trek have been great, very well organised and the info provided was spot on! Even whilst away updating family and friends you did a cracking job and I can't thank you enough. First day back at work today and all I thought about was returning to the desert and doing it all again! Can't fault anything and I can't thank you enough for the experience! I would highly recommend everyone, young/ old, fit/ unfit to give this ago! An experience of a lifetime; you won't be disappointed!

For Land Only packages, your trip starts on arrival in Marrakesh (meet at group hotel).
Fly from London on a direct flight to Marrakesh. On arrival in Marrakesh, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel/Riad. Once you have settled in, you will want to experience the famous Djemaa el Fna square. Your first experience of the square is one of a senses explosion; entertainers performing, a myriad of food stalls all lit up with the smells to accompany them, and the general melee of activity.
Day 2. Depart for Imlil, begin trekking, camp at Assaro (2300m)
After breakfast, you will depart and drive into the High Atlas mountains to the town of Imlil. This is just a 90 min journey. Once you have met your trek crew, complete with mules, you will be on your way. The first leg will take about 4.5 hrs to Tacheddirt via the Col de Tamatert (2229m). BLD
Day 3. Tacheddirt – Foot of Tizi n’Ououraine (2900m)
This is a fairly long and tough day and starting with a long climb up and over the 3555m Tizi Likemt (3550m), passing shepherds with their flocks of sheep and goats. The descent drops down into the village of Azib Likemt. A short section of flat trekking along the valley floor before another climb towards the next Pass. The campsite is at the foot of the Tizi n’Ououraine. About 6.5hrs. BLD
Day 4. Trek to Lac D’Ifni (2392m)
A short sharp climb over the Pass before a big drop down to the village of Tagadirt. It’s then an easy few kilometres south to Amsourzerte before heading west towards Lac D’Ifni. This is the beginning of the gully that takes you all of the way to the Neltner Refuge. It’s about 5km to the lake with a climb of about 500m. The lake a typical green, cold mountain lake; have a dip if you dare! The camp is at the side of the lake. About 6 hrs. BLD
Day 5. Lac d’Infni – Nelter Refuge (3200m)
Following the stream up the valley, it’s about a 4km climb to the 3684m Tizi n’Ouanaoums before a steep descent. Turning north and following another stream, it’s just 1 km into the Neltner Refuge. Camp or use the Refuge here. A shorter day with a chance for a rest in the afternoon. BLD
Day 6. Toubkal (Summit Day) – trek to Around (1900m)
A long day ahead as you have a pre-dawn start for the ascent of Toubkal (4167m). The terrain varies and can be steep in places. You will also highly likely cross patches of snow and certainly some sliding scree. Trekking poles are an advantage on this mountain, especially on the descent. There are some great views from the infamous triangle that marks the summit.
The descent is by the same route. Once back at the Refuge, you can take a little rest before descending further to camp near the village of Around. Approx 12 hrs, 1000m ascent, BLD
Day 7. Trek to Imlil and transfer back to Marrakesh
In the morning, it’s a short descent to where the trek begun, meet the transport, say goodbye to your trek crew and head back to Marrakesh. The afternoon is free. B
Day 8. Depart for London, B
At the appropriate time, you will be transferred back to the airport for your return flight home.
