The less trekked Mgoun area is stunning, with an impressive gorge walk and exposed high ridge.
The Mgoun Massif region of the High Atlas is stunning. Beautiful mountain scenery, flowing rivers, remote Berber villages and a high exposed ridge make this one of the best trekking routes in the High Atlas. It’s remoteness and less well known name means that very few trekkers venture here.
On arrival in Marrakesh you will be met by your Guide, transferred to your hotel for an overnight stop before heading off to Ait Bougoumez to start your trek the following morning.
Initially, this trek meanders its way through the lower fertile slopes with classic berber rural villages and Nomads grazing their camels. Be sure to take some suitable footwear for wading through water. You will slowly gain altitude to 2900m at the foot of Mgoun itself. Summit day is during the latter part of the trek and the ridge is impressively exposed; a fantastic place to be. The views are wonderful. Due to a quirk of nature, fossils can be found on the ridge so keep your eyes open!
Your final full day of trekking is over a Col before descending and spending the night in a classic and welcoming Maroc Gite. A short trek next day will complete it and you will then be transported back to Marrakesh where you can treat yourself to a well deserved evening out to sample the delights of this unique city.
Summit North Africa’s 2nd highest summit; lightly trekked
Impressive ridge walk

Morocco Three Peaks, Aug 2016, beginning to end the entire trip was a complete pleasure. Travel and Trek fell over themselves to be helpful during the booking process and the pre trip information was comprehensive and useful. A 'must see' the scenery is stunning...I am a head chef and never again will I accept excuses from my team about lack of equipment and conditions; what they produce in field conditions is nothing short of miraculous. Thinking of doing this trip? Stop thinking now and book.

Where do I start with the 'Sahara trek'...... It was fantastic!! The guides were outstanding, the rest of the crew fantastic as for the chefs..... how anyone can make food in the desert to that quality I will never know! Travel and Trek have been great, very well organised and the info provided was spot on! An experience of a lifetime; you wont be disappointed!
Where do I start with the 'Sahara trek'...... It was fantastic!! Loved every minute of it! From getting collected from the airport to being dropped off not 1 thing went wrong! (Well apart from the Marrekech taxi drivers, I did fear for my life, but that's a thrill in itself). The guides were outstanding, friendly, full of info and a pleasure to have met, the rest of the crew were also fantastic and as for the chefs..... How anyone can make food in the desert to that quality I will never know! The food in the desert was better than most restaurants I've been too and I like my restaurants and food! The hotels were excellent before and after and as for Morocco itself the people are very welcoming, friendly and somewhere I'm likely to visit again with my family! The group we had were spot on, everyone helped each other even through the hot days when it was clear others were struggling! Id like to think I've met some friends for life out there! Travel and Trek have been great, very well organised and the info provided was spot on! Even whilst away updating family and friends you did a cracking job and I can't thank you enough. First day back at work today and all I thought about was returning to the desert and doing it all again! Can't fault anything and I can't thank you enough for the experience! I would highly recommend everyone, young/ old, fit/ unfit to give this ago! An experience of a lifetime; you won't be disappointed!
