Holi Festival Tour 2010
Join Travel and Trek for this special tour of Nepal to celebrate the colourful Holi Festival with a Nepalese family. This escorted 11 day trip covers Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan as well a unique opportunity to celebrate the final day of the Holi Festival with the Nepalese.

Whilst the Holi Festival lasts a week, it is famed for its colourful final day when lots of coloured water (often in balloons!) and powder paint are thrown in a liberal fashion! Not much is missed. The Festival itself is a celebration of the prankish nature of Krishna and you will be with a local Nepali family to celebrate it with them.
In addition, you have an escorted sightseeing tour of many of Kathmandu’s world heritage sights before you will head off to the Royal Chitwan National Park for two nights. You will get a full day’s jungle activities including an early morning safari into the jungle on the back of an elephant in search of the Bengal Tiger. The eastern Himalaya is considered home to this wonderful animal and this Park is one of the best in Asia. You will also get a ride in a dug out canoe down the river and visit the elephant breeding centre.
You will spend a further two nights in the lakeside town of Pokhara, which sits at the base of the mighty Annapurna range of mountains. This is a very relaxing place to stay; the many cafes, bars and restaurants are all wonderful places to sit and watch the world go by. Some sightseeing and a 1 hr ride in a boat on the Phewa lake are included in your tour but you are free to fit in a day walk or if you fancy something a little more energetic hire mountain bikes or world class paragliding or microliting. This is the only place in the world that has trained raptors that fly with paragliders (they are there to find the thermals).
You will fly back to Kathmandu by light aircraft viewing the terrain that you have driven through from the air. You have a little more time in Kathmandu before you board your flight back to the UK.
