Mannapurna Circuit Trek
The Mannapurna Circuit combines the very best of the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuits. This extensive trek is one of the longest Circuits on our programme; it is also one of the least populated.
It is an excellent alternative to the Annapurna Circuit if you are concerened about the dirt tracks appearing on that route.
Until very recently, the Manaslu region could only be trekked using tents as the tea houses were simply not set up for trekkers. That has changed and sufficient have now been trained to accept trekkers and it is therefore now possible to trek the Mannapurna Circuit using tea houses.
The starting altitude of the Manaslu Circuit is under 600m; very low for a trek. It takes over a week of glorious trekking through unspoilt rural Nepal to get up to any serious height and the acclimatisation is therefore excellent. It is not until Day 12 (still on the Manaslu Circuit) that you cross the 5000m Lakya La with fantastic views of the surrounding peaks; a taste of things to come in the Annapurna region.
Having dropped back down to under 2500m briefly, you join the Annapurna Circuit on trekking day 15 at Thone. 3 days later and you will be in Manang acclimatising for the push over the 5416m Thorong La. Your acclimatisation on the Manaslu Circuit should stand you in good stead for this phase. Once you cross the Pass, it is down to the deepest river gorge in the world (the Kali Ghandaki). Your Circuit will end at Jomson where you will fly back to Pokhara.
This combination of Circuits keeps you away from the dirt tracks that have crept into parts of the Annapurna Circuit.
