Everest Region

The Everest region (known as the Khumbu) lies 30 mins flying time north east of Kathmandu. Everest Base Camp is by far the most popular destination within this National Park but it has many other gems: Island Peak, Mera Peak (both trekking peaks over 6000m), Namche Bazaar (the largest Sherpa village in this region), Tengbouche (monastery) and Gokyo Lakes among them.

The lure of this region is very strong; it is the closest most people will get to the summit of the highest peak in the world.

Travel and Trek runs regular treks to Everest Base Camp, some of them combined with the even more challenging Island Peak summit. The 360 degree view from this snow capped 6189m peak is amazing and it can be achieved without previous climbing experience.

Travel and Trek offers:

Everest Base Camp trek – the classic 19 day trip to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world (uses lodges not tents).

Everest Base Camp & Island Peak – an excellent combination, which is just 3 days longer the Everest Base Camp trek (lodged trek, 2 nights in tents).

Tailor Made – decide what you wish to achieve, what you wish to see and at what pace and Travel and Trek can design a variety of itineraries for you.
