To place anything on this webpage for the good and benefit of the group, just e-mail me and I will put it on.
Here, I will provide you with some tips on how to make your trip go as smoothly as possible:
22 Jul....you each have a Travel and Trek holdall and they all look the same! Think how you can add something to the handles to distinguish yours from everyone elses! Don't forget a lock to secure it when it is flying. Combinations are best, no key to lose!
5 Aug...get your travel documents backed up whilst you have the time. Passport, travel insurance, important tel No's, copy or scan them and take them with you. Better still get a friend who is also on the trip to carry a spare set and even better, get them scanned onto a web based e-mail such as hotmail or Yahoo. That way, you have electronic access to them too.
14 Aug...don't use a wallet on this trip, it can easily be seen and therefore becomes a target for thieves. Kathmandu is not that sort of place but best to be safe. Trim down what you take to a min and use a money belt (v cheap in Kathmandu) for your passport, money, etc...
14 Aug...think about taking some extra cash and buy Christmas presents whilst out there. You'll save yourself a fortune compared to UK prices and you can get something different.
29 Aug...get your passport photos in before 12 Sep! You have limited time in Kathmandu as it is; you do not want to be running around in Kathmandu trying to sort your permit out, trust me!
To remind you of key elements and responsibilities:
Travel and Trek (Terry Crosby). Terry is the facilitator for this trip and is ultimately responsible for putting the various elements of your trip together in Nepal from the hotels, internal flights, safety, etc.... If anything goes wrong, he or a member of his staff (in country) will try and correct it as soon as possible, including any medical evacuation should it be needed (your insurance will pay but Travel and Trek will assist in getting you safely and speedily away).
Kevin Adams. The man in the middle from a school perspective and clearly experienced at altitude. Kevin will be a valuable asset to Terry as another pair of eyes when the altitude begins to get serious and some of you are feeling the affects more than most.
Community Action Nepal. The superb charity that you have chosen. By transporting this equipment out to Nepal, you are providing the local community with some very sought after (and expensive) rescue kit. Unfortunately, Nepal (like many Asian countries) is very corrupt and any cash that you may give, will soon get swallowed up by the 'barrons'! By providing something such as equipment, it will go straight to where it is needed. |
URGENT
ACTION REQUIRED
Passport sized photos needed for Trekking permits
Closing date 12 Sep
On 12 Sep, those I have received will go to Nepal for processing. The remainder will need to be sourced on arrival in Nepal and you may have to pay for it! At worse case, if you have to go without it, the authorities will fine you for not having a permit.
There are two specific documents that require photographs; the Nepal Visa and the Treking permit.
You will get further details of the Visa on this page at a later date but I do need now:
1 x passport style photo
Come on guys, this page has been up ages and to date I have only 9 photos!
Either give it Mr Adams at school
OR
send it to me at:
42 Hough Road, Barkston, Grantham NG32 2NS
Don't forget to write your name on the back so that I know who it is!
I will publish the names of those I have on this page to keep account and to give you the knowledge that I have it.
Received (as at 31 Aug)
Ed Davidson, Tim Helliwell, Adam Shaw, Andy Taylor. Ben Collier, Nathan Watson, Oli Fletcher, Kevin Adams, Peter Brister, Sean Bagnall
